The Real Princesses
Lorraine Thayer
(Princess Lorraine)
Lorraine Thayer was raised in the Eastern Townships of Quebec where she spent much of her childhood visiting her grandfather’s farm. Of all the animals on the farm, cattle were the most attractive to Lorraine. She spent many hours in the cow field enjoying the restful companionship of these gentle creatures.
Now living in Bobcaygeon, Ontario, Lorraine works and teaches at her studio home, Bearly Thayer Studio. She keeps her own small herd of cattle which she often features in her realistic watercolour paintings and in her interpretive sculptures. Commissions of cattle for the beef industry represent a large portion of Lorraine’s work and her paintings are in private and corporate collections across North America. She has received awards at juried shows for her paintings and for her interpretive, whimsical sculptures.
Lorraine is currently exploring a new development in her work which involves cupcakes. This change of subject matter was precipitated by her Visual and Creative Arts studies at Fleming College in Haliburton, Ontario.
Lorraine is thankful to her husband John and daughter Emily for their support and encouragement in her art career.
Jane Burton-Davies
(Princess Jane)
Jane was born in Somerset England in December of 1959. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1967 settling in Oakville, Ontario. She attended Holy Name of Mary girls school and went on to work for Wood Gundy. Jane married Mike in 1980 and shortly after that bought a resort in Bobcaygeon with her parents. They have been in Bobcaygeon ever since where they raised two children, Sarah and David. Jane has always had a passion for interior decorating, using their home as a palate for her creativity. Now she can imagine, design and create “cupcakes” to her hearts content.
Sarah, David and Mike love the cupcake concept and help and encourage Jane in everyway.
